Kamandalu Resort & Spa, Ubud

Located in the lush green hills of Ubud, the Kamandalu Resort and Spa overlooks the Petanu River. Designed in the style of an actual Balinese village, the Kamandalu has an air of nostalgia while offering luxury and modern conveniences to guests.

Kamandalu Villa Accommodation

Kamandalu consists of 56 villas. Each one is made with natural stone with a roof made out of alang-alang (indigenous grass). Many of the villas have a private bale bengong (outdoor daybed) for the sole purpose of practicing the “art of doing nothing”. Relaxing is an art, after all. Each villa has a fabulous panoramic view of the Ubud Valley, green as far as the eye can see, terraced rice paddies and the majestic Petanu River. Furnishings are Balinese; natural colours, woods and gauzy white materials. Villa guests can choose from a four-poster king size bed or twin beds. All rooms come with amenities like air-conditioning, television with satellite programming, coffee and tea maker and mini-bar. Pool Villas have private free-form pools to lounge at. All Villa guests are welcome to enjoy the main pool which has a swim-up bar.

Dining

Dining at Kamandalu is a diverse medley of flavours with several restaurants. For authentic Asian cuisine, try Petulu Restaurant. High ceilings, white tablecloths and windows opened to a balmy breeze make dinner a night to savour. For a gorgeous panoramic view of the green Ubud Valley below, dine at Cempaka Lounge which serves a fusion of Asian and Western cuisine. Other dining choices include cocktails and refreshments at the Waroeng Subak Bar and Lounge, a Balinese Barbeque served as room-service and a special meal served in the Balinese Garden underneath the stars.

Activities & Adventures

There are several pools for guests to enjoy, including one for children. Guests (the daring ones) can also take a swim in the Petanu River, go bicycling through the rice paddies and through a Balinese village, take a cooking class and try the resort’s game room.

When the desire for higher adventure comes around, however, one only has to go as far as the front desk. The staff can set guests up with an adventure such as an Elephant Safari; guests get to ride and feed Sumatran Elephants, day or night, watch an elephant show to watch and take a tour through an elephant museum.

Another adventure, this one quite daring, is white-water rafting. Experience a ride like no other on Ubud’s Ayung River with an experienced guide. Guests can experience the exhilarating thrill of Class II and Class III rapids. Head down the river under jungle canopies, pass by waterfalls and, whether on purpose or by chance, take a swim in the cool Ayung River.

Canyon Tubing is another invigorating adventure for the brave souls out there. This adventure is not for those who like dry land because wet is the name of this adventure. Navigate the twists and turns, cruise under an old wooden bridge, inch over boulders where the water is an inch at best and relax in the slow meandering areas.

Children will love seeing all the animals at the Ubud Zoo. With over 350 species of wildlife, there are a lot of animals to see here. See the white Bengalla Tiger; with only 1,850 Bengalla Tigers left, this might be the one chance to do so. Some of the animals visitors can see include the Estuary Crocodile (the largest of the crocodiles), orang-utans (which means “person of the forest” in Malay), the Komodo Dragon (which can eat large water buffalo), deer, gibbons, the Cassowary, camels, lions, colourful parrots, binturong, black panthers, Sun Bears, Sumatran Tigers, kangaroos and pythons.

With all this in store and more why not consider Kamandalu Resort and Spa for your next Bali holiday?
